This week in Reception children have been practising their writing skills by applying their phonics knowledge in different ways. Children have been taught the pure sounds for each letter of the alphabet, and they have learned how to practise forming these correctly. There are various resources available in the classrooms for children to practise their writing and letter formation. We have resources such as- white boards, whiteboard pens, small notebooks, note pads as well as clipboards in the different areas of the classrooms.
Children are encouraged to write sounds they can hear in words, write their name and label pictures with initial sounds and more. Keep an eye out on Seesaw this week as teachers will share the letter formation rhymes that you can say to your child at home when encouraging them to write. For example for the letter ‘a’ we say “around the apple and down the leaf”. Please encourage your child to practise writing their name at home and upload a picture of the writing for their teacher to see!
