Positional language – you can help so much

This week Reception children have had a big focus on practising key skills in the construction area. They have used various resources such as Duplo, Lego and wooden blocks to create different structures. The children have built houses, clock towers, rockets, bridges and so much more. In Reception children use skills such as stacking, overlapping and balancing to make structures. Building involves a lot of math, creative thinking and problem solving as children have to work out how to put pieces together. Construction also encourages use of key prepositional language. When your child is building you can ask them where they are putting the pieces- under, beside, next to, on top of etc. Next week children will be excited to practise their singing and creative skills as they get ready for their Winter Sparkle in Reception.
