Did Year 2 find the optimum position?

This week Year 2 children worked very hard in Maths. Their number fact skills have been tested when adding and subtracting with the exchange. They were challenged to lay it out well and show their calculation process pictorially. In English, they finished their final independent writing about our Heaton Park. In this piece, they were asked to show that they can write at the Year 2 level by being secure in their capital letters, full stops, conjunctions ‘that’ and ‘or’ as well as make sure they are not missing words in their sentences. Finally, we started our DT unit where we explored the function and mechanics of a wheel and an axle as well as the optimum position and the shape of the wheel to help the vehicles move better. Next week, we are looking forward to designing and making carriages using the knowledge about the wheels and the axles.
