We love riding bikes in Reception

In Reception children have been focusing on building their gross motor skills. An exciting way to do this is through riding bikes. The children have learned about riding safely and know that they always need to wear a helmet to protect themselves.

Providing opportunities to ride bikes allows children to learn to balance and move their bodies in ways where they negotiate space and avoid obstacles in their path. Our outdoor areas are designed and set up for children to have opportunities to build their physical development. It is important that children practise improving their balance and coordination when playing. In Reception we have the opportunity for children to spend time outdoors or indoors throughout the day. When outdoors they are encouraged to choose effective ways of moving whilst in the different areas.

Next week the children in Reception are looking forward to welcoming families into their classrooms to perform winter songs, winter craft activities and share a special snack.
